The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, PTK provides opportunity for the development of leadership and service, an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, lively fellowship of scholars, and stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence. The Beta Epsilon Omega Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society was officially chartered on May 2, 1997. Invitations are sent to all eligible students when a student has completed 12 college level credits with a 3.5 GPA or higher, and members are inducted in a formal ceremony.
